Presta Products is proactive about VOC compliance

As you may or may not know, automotive reconditioning and detailing chemicals are regulated by the government. In many states, products are only allowed to contain a certain amount of VOCs or Volatile Organic Compounds. VOCs are gases (or vapors) emitted by solids and liquids that when released in large quantities into the atmosphere may be harmful to the environment.

Three main governing agencies regulate VOC compliance: C.A.R.B. California Air Resources Board (west), O.T.C. Ozone Transport Commission (east) and L.A.D.C.O. Lake Michigan Air Directors Consortium (midwest). The map below shows currently regulated and pending VOC states.

VOC compliant and pending states:

Yellow: States with VOC regulations.
Red: States pending VOC regulations.
White: States that currently do not have VOC regulations.

Just because your state is not currently regulated, doesn't mean that you're totally out of the woods. More and more states are expected to become VOC compliant in the next couple years, and the time it takes states to make the switch has lessened from up to a year (or more) to as short as six months. Plus, it is possible that new federal regulations could make VOC compliance mandatory nationwide.

The good news is that nearly all Presta Products are VOC compliant, and those that are not have a VOC compliant alternative. For example, our extremely popular Fast Wax is also available in a VOC Complaint Fast Wax version that is every bit as good as the original.

Furthermore, all new Presta Products going forward will be formulated to be VOC compliant. Eventually, all states will make the switch to VOC compliance. Therefore, we feel that it only makes sense to move forward with VOC compliant chemicals.

The law states that we can only sell VOC compliant products into regulated states. Non-regulated states can purchase both VOC compliant and non-VOC compliant products, however, we recommend you use our VOC compliant versions because they are just as powerful as our old, non-compliant products.
